A complex mix of factors related to environment, lifestyle, and heredity plays a role in the causation of cancer. For example, 80 percent of all cancers are related to the use of tobacco products, to what we eat and drink, and to our exposure to radiation, asbestos, and some of the other cancer-causing agents. There’s not much you can do about your genes, but several other key risk factors are under your control. If you identify them and make the necessary changes in your lifestyle early enough, you can substantially decrease your chances of developing a malignancy. Here are some of the risk factors you can do something about:

1. Tobacco

Tobacco is the most preventable cause of mortality in this country. Regardless of whether you chew it, snuff it, smoke it, or inhale someone else’s exhaust, tobacco is a killer. In the United States, it is responsible for 85 to 90 percent of all lung cancers, and for one-third of all deaths related to other cancers. The magnitude of the risk depends on the number and kind of cigarettes you have smoked and for how long. A pack-a-day smoker is ten times more vulnerable than a non-smoker. It is never too late to quit. After you do, your cancer risk declines gradually each year.

2. Chronic alcohol abuse

This type of abuse can cause cancer of the liver, as well as of the mouth, throat, and larynx, especially in combination with tobacco. It may also raise the risk of breast cancer. If you are going to imbibe, limit yourself to the equivalent of two drinks a day – and stop smoking.

3. Diet

People who shun fruits and vegetables have roughly twice the incidence of most types of cancer – lung, larynx, oral cavity, stomach, colon, and rectum, bladder, pancreas, cervix, and ovary – than those with the highest intake. Yet only 9 percent of Americans heed the recommendations of the National Cancer Institute and the National Research Council to eat two servings of fruit and three portions of vegetables a day. Seventh-Day Adventists, who don’t drink or eat much meat but do consume a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, have the lowest incidence of cancer in the U.S. population. This protective effect is probably due to the antioxidants and folic acid present in fruits and vegetables, which neutralize damage to chromosomal DNA caused by oxygen-free radicals.

4. A high-fat diet

This type of diet is associated with cancer of the breast, uterus, and prostate. The guilty foods are eggs, fatty meat, high-fat salad dressings and cooking oils, and diary products such as whole milk, butter, and most cheeses.

Blueberries have a higher antioxidant capacity than any other fruit or vegetable. They are said to protect against cancer by virtue of their anthocyanins and other natural phytochemicals.

5. A high consumption of soy-based food

Soy-based food such as tofu, may also protect against cancer because of the genistein content. Genistein suppresses the production of proteins that cancer cells need in order to keep growing. In China and Japan, where people eat lots of soy, there is much less cancer of the breast, colon, and prostate than in this country. Since men with prostate cancer generally have lower blood levels of selenium than their normal counterparts, selenium supplements may protect against this malignancy.

6. Some supplements

Some supplements seem to protect against certain cancers. For instance, colon polyps and cancer do not recur as often in persons who regularly take multivitamins, calcium supplements, and vitamin E. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is protective against cancer, presumably because of the beta-carotene content. So take your mother’s advice: Eat all the fruits and vegetables you can – and forget the pills.

7. Don’t have X-rays

Don’t have X-rays any more frequently than is absolutely necessary. I no longer take annual routine chest films on myself. Some dentists are too enthusiastic about X rays. Make sure you really need them before acquiescing.

- Silicone gel implants were banned in 1992 by the FDA.

- Saline-filled implants tend to have a higher rate of leaking and deflation than silicone gel implants, which means more frequent surgery to replace them.

- In a study published in the Lancet medical journal, Dr Lori Brown of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says: “There is emerging consensus that both the incidence and prevalence of breast-implant rupture are much higher than previously suspected.”

- 21% overall increase in cancers for women with implants, compared to women of the same age in the general population.

- Implant patients were three times as likely to die from lung cancer, emphysema and pneumonia as other plastic surgery patients. The study is based on medical records and death certificates of almost 8,000 women with breast implants, including silicone gel implants and saline implants, and more than 2,000 other plastic surgery patients.

(National Cancer Institute (NCI), Boston University, Abt Associates, and the Food and Drug Administration, with Dr. Louise Brinton from NCI as lead author.) These facts aren’t so interesting, are they? On the other hand, there are several non surgical products and procedures that can enlarge, enhance and lift your breasts such as pills, creams, special bras; using weights and even, hypnosis.

Most of these are natural and devoid of the risks associated with surgical procedures. Most of the pills are herbal and made of natural products. These natural products also have other benefits. Anybody that has ever had cancer or knows somebody that has had it, or has a family member that has had cancer knows just how devastating and horrible it can be to the person who has it and everyone involved. Although there currently isn’t any known cure, anything that we can do to prevent cancer is very important, vitally so. In fact since there isn’t a cure, the only thing we can do is try to prevent it.

In this article today I’d like to give you several important tips for things that you can do to help prevent cancer in yourself.

One of the main areas to focus on is diet. Studies have shown that how we eat and what we eat is a major contributing factor to cancer prevention.

That means avoiding certain types of food if at all possible. Eating less dietary fat can definitely cut your cancer risk for things such as breast, colon, and also prostate cancers.

You should try to minimize the consumption of certain meats including beef, pork, and even poultry and fish.

You should also try to eat more vegetables and fruits but along with eating more of these things you should also be aware of how you prepare them. When it comes to preparation, it’s very important to wash your produce thoroughly as well.

Another important tip is to drink more water. Some studies have shown that drinking between 6 to 8 eight ounce glasses of water every single day does a good job helping to flush carcinogens out of your body which is very important to cancer prevention.

You should also try to consume as much dietary fiber is possible. This comes in the form of fresh fruits but also vegetables and whole grains. Fiber generally speeds that passage of feces through the intestines. This helps reduce the amount of time that those carcinogens stick around in your body which can only be a good thing.

Along with avoiding certain foods, it’s a good idea to add certain foods that are known to be good in the fight against cancer. When you come right down to it, almost all fruits and vegetables and grains are good for you and this area but some of them are even better than others.

These foods include onions and garlic as well as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and brussel sprouts. Nuts and seeds are especially good as well and whole grains; and tomatoes are great too.

So there you have several tips on how to prevent cancer that are fairly simple and straightforward and shouldn’t take too much effort on your part.

CANCER has always been with us. All living organisms are susceptible to cancer, and the more complex the organism, higher the risk of cancer. A great many pressures (due to life forces, environmental forces) on the cells push them toward malignant neoplasm transformation. Our cells turn malignant constantly, and normally our immunity (Jeevan Shakti: Life forces) eliminates them. It is imperative to maintain our immunity in good working order and to know how to reduce cancer risks. There are certain ayurvedic herbs used by the tribal people of Chhattisgarh for an easy and natural defense against cancer growth. It is really a matter of research. In Ramayana, few crude drugs (viz. Sanjivani, Sandhani, Sawarndkarani, Vishalyakarni) , are said to be the most effective plants for curing the human diseases in various ways. The herbal State Chhattisgarh is filled with nature’s wonderful gift often called natural tribal resources. These are what make human life possible on the tribal planet. It is the mystery and wonder of nature that even cancer patient sustains life here.

The Ayurvedic words for abnormal Cancer like growths were based on type and location, and were assigned names in a similar fashion. Granthi, Arbuda, Gulma, Asthila, Balmika, Shaluka are some of the words which were used. The Ayurvedic words ‘Tridosaja’/ ‘Sannipataja’ abnormal growth is used to indicate the malignant stage of the neoplasm; the word ‘Vataja’ or ‘Pittaja’ or ‘Kaphaja’ or a combination of any two of them (e.g. Vata-Pittaja or Vata-Kaphaja or Pitta-Kaphaja) is used to signify a benign neoplasm. Ayurveda explains that a malignant abnormal growth, or Tridosaja neoplasm, is one in which all the three major bodily control systems—Vata, Pitta and Kapha—which should have mutual coordination for normal functioning of the body, are out of control.

At the time of Atreya and Dhanwantari (7th century BC), surgery was considered the best method of treatment. They found that the herbal medical treatments against cancer, either in the form of Granthi or Arbuda, were beneficial only in the beginning stage. Nonetheless, they recorded a group of successful treatments for use against Gulma and neoplasm of individual organs. Vagabhata (8th. century AD), a well-known Buddhist physician, have introduced some new understandings and a new medical approach to the treatment of cancer. The Siddhas (7th. to 13th. century AD) made powerful contributions to the field of medicine. Especially the science which became incorrectly known as “Alchemy,” but which was actually medicine making based upon their theories of the pharmacology of toxic materials, is the contribution which brought about a revolutionary change in the medical history of Ayurveda. As a consequence of their contributions, cancer was considered no longer incurable, if it was treated in the early stages.

The Chakradatta composed by Chakrapani (10th. century AD), the Sarangadhara Samhita by Sarangadhara (14th. century AD), the Bhavaprakasha Samhita by Bhavamisra (15th. century AD), the Satmya Darpan Samhita by Viswanath (16th. century AD), the Vaisajya Ratnavali by B. Sen Gupta (18th. century AD), the Rasatarangini by Sadananda Sharma (19th. century AD) etc. are the Ayurvedic texts of internal medicine. These texts contain numerous well tested remedies based on ‘alchemy’ for internal and external cancers. Certain poisonous plants, heavy metals (such as mercury and Arsenic), minerals, and animal products were found very useful in cancers when they were prepared by the process of alchemy, using various methods to alter the strong poisons and render them harmless. Their extensive research in this field focused on the idea of ‘Rasayana,’ or immunotherapy, the term that focused on longevity. With the intention of promoting long life and good health, the doctors studying Rasayana therapies concentrated on the unique nature of certain plants and minerals which stimulated the body tissues to create extraordinary immunity against many forms of disease. Working in this field, ancient alchemists were proud to introduce some effective remedies for external and internal cancers.”

Here is a modified anti-cancer formula. It was introduced by Vagabhata in the 13th century, in the 24th chapter of his book Rasayana Samucchaya. Purified mercury is processed with tanduliyam juice (Amaranthus polyganus), Punarnava root (Boerhavia diffusa), Naga Bala (a variety of Sida cordifolia), aloe Vera, Bala (Sida cordifolia), and cow urine. This processed mercury is further potentates with Tinospora cordifolia and Semicarpus anacordium (Bhallataka). This powerful mercury is further be fortified with addition of Kanchanara Guggul. One such preparation is Amrita Guggul. The preparation should be used along with Panch Gavya Ghrita and Maker-Sanjivani.

Potential risk of Ayurvedic Treatment?

Some Panch Karma procedures of Ayurveda, such as Rakta Mokshana (blood-letting), and Vamana (induced vomiting), have not been shown to have any benefit and can lead to serious medical complications. Unsupervised Langhana (Fasting) and Virechana (purging) can speed up degenerative processes in cancer patients. There is very little known about Ayurvedic herbal medicines. The Ayurvedic treatment for Cancer should be done under expert supervision of at least additional fully qualified ayurvedic doctor. Safe Cancer Treatment – Alternative Cure To Cancer

Stomach cancer is a result of a malignant cells in the lining of the stomach. Ninety percent more of stomach cancers are adenocarcinomas, arising from cells lining the stomach wall; lymphomas account for to three to seven percent of stomach cancers. For some unknown reasons, incidence of stomach cancer has decreased in the United States in the last 50 years; dietary factors and the refrigeration of foods are thought to play roles in the decline.

Causes and Symptoms

The cause of stomach tumors is unknown but environmental factors appear to play a role. Geographic areas such as the United States often have a low incidence of stomach cancer. Consuming foods containing nitrates or nitrites (chemicals commonly used in processed foods as preservatives) increases stomach cancer risk. Smoked foods are believed to pose the highest risk and also those who consume less on vegetables and fruits are at risk. Surgical removal of some part of the stomach (gastrectomy), chronic inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis), and pernicious anemia increases the odds of developing stomach cancer. Hereditary, the disease might be passed down to a relative: for reasons that are unknown. People with type-A blood has a higher incidence of stomach cancer. Infection with the bacterium helicobacter pylori has also been associated with gastric cancer, particularly in those infected at young age. A type of lymphoma called “MALT” is linked to infection with the bacterium helicobacter pylori.

List of Stomach Cancer Symptoms:

No symptoms in most cases of small, surgically curable stomach cancers.
Stomach discomfort or having pain after meals that is not relieved by soothing foods or antacids.
Loss of appetite and weight.
Vomiting and Nausea
Gas, heartburn, regurgitation, and belching.
Bloating or abdominal fullness
Swallowing difficulty
Weakness and fatigue
Anemia due to gastrointestinal bleeding
Black, tarry stools (due to bleeding)

Our bodies are continuously exposed to germs, viruses, bacteria, and carcinogens. Every day the body’s immune system effectively suppresses these numerous assaults—unless the assault is too strong and/or the immune system is too weak to destroy the affected or damaged cells. Normal cells will grow, divide and die in an orderly fashion. However, abnormal cancerous cells begin to multiply out of control and do not die. They develop into a lump, tumor, or growth that invades healthy tissue and can spread unhealthy cells to other parts of the body.

There are some factors that are generally accepted and known to be carcinogens which cause cancerous growth. Two good examples of this are: tobacco use and air pollution. However, there are many cancer triggers that are generally accepted by researchers but are not as obvious to the general public. The following are 8 things that researchers have determined can measurably influence your cancer risk.

#1 – Meat: Study after study has concluded that vegetarians are 50% less likely to die from Cancer. Animal fats contain hormones that humans absorb during consumption. There are also chemicals that attach to the food as the fats are cooked. These chemicals can be carcinogenic.

#2 – Goodies: The consumption of excess fats and sugars will impact the body’s insulin production & hormone production which impacts cell damage and the immune system. Cancerous cells have an affinity to sugars.

#3 Excess Weight: There are a few reasons why being overweight dramatically increases cancer risk. First of all for the same reasons listed in #2. But also many environmental chemicals that we are exposed to daily tend to store more in fat cells. These chemicals are lipo-philic. They like fat tissue. Many of these can be “chemicals of concern” and carcinogenic.

#4 Flame Retardants: PBDEs are chemicals used as flame retardants. While flame retardant products are all around us and have been promoted as “safety” standards, we must acknowledge the collateral toxicity of this consumer “safety.”

#5: BPA (Bisphenol A): BPA is a chemical that has been used for decades in the production of plastic food containers such as baby bottles, water bottles, cans and in some dental sealants. BPA can leach into food and liquids as containers are heated or damaged.

#6 Sunscreen: Researchers now know that some ingredients in sunscreens (heavily promoted to prevent skin cancer) may actually increase cancer risk by mimicking an estrogenic effect and may trigger free radical development and possible cell damage. PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) and oxybenzone have been linked in some research to cell damage that can lead to cancer cell development.

#7 Antibacterial Products: Triclosan (used in antibacterial and antifungal products) is widely used in soaps, lotions, cleaning supplies and a variety of consumer products. However, triclosan is chemically similar to a dioxin that can act as an endocrine disrupting chemical. EDC’s can disrupt hormonal function and trigger cell damage.

#8 Alcohol: Alcohol in itself is not characterized as a carcinogen. However, it functions as a co-carcinogen which can enhance the dangerous impact of other carcinogens in the body. This is especially true for tobacco users whose risks are multiplied when tobacco and alcohol are combined regular habits.

What would you say if someone asks you “what is the worst case scenario, in relation to your parents”.

One year ago my answer would have been “If my parents died in a traumatic crash or something along those lines”. I could not think of anything worse than that. Until my mother dropped the C word on me exactly one year ago.

What is a girl to do when she finds out that her mother has cancer and even worse breast cancer. Luckily for my mother it was a low risk case but all in all cancer is cancer. In hearing this it made me think about everyone else in this world that have to deal with this fact of life and how they would handle it. Some people may drink there sorrows away or turn to drugs. Other will find themselves crying themselves to sleep or sinking into a world of depression. My reaction was to express myself creatively and trying to stay strong for my mum which for me this was the best option. Do not get me wrong i was upset and definitely withdrawn but i managed to respect my mums wishes and not cry. At least not in front of her. My head swelled with different emotions and of course I jumped to the worst conclusion when I should not have.

After the dreaded conversation that I know was harder for my mum than for me I struggled to hold back the tears. So I took a deep breath, pushed the tear back as fast as i could and lightly whispered “Everything Will be fine I promise”.

Cancer is a tortuous disease. Its not just the emotions that are unbearable, it is the medical appointments, the biopsies, the operations. Whether or not your the patient or the family these are factors that will affect all involved. It is the ups and the downs that bruise the most. holding onto any trace of hope that you can find, only to have it ripped away in one instance by the medical results. The fight to stay positive is hard for all parties.

It is funny, it seemed easier for my mother to stay positive than for myself. It did not matter how many scars were left or how many operations she had she always seemed to stay strong. Being the observer does have its pros and con’s; pro your not the one that has cancer and the con’s well the list goes on and on. The worst memory was walking through the hospital wing knowing that my mum is just around the corner lying in white sheets with an excessive amount of drugs in her system to keep her from feeling her freshly cut wounds. unfortunately, this may happen various times and it does seem impossible to find that small trace of hope. among all else that hope will always be there whether or not you feel it at all times either you or the patient will always have a glimpse of hope and that is one thing that not even death can take away from you. It is either hope that the cancer will go away or the unexplainable hope of knowing that they are in a better place now. either way it is always there, it is whether or not you acknowledge it.

The operations, the biopsies, they are all apparent in order the hold onto the hope. These actions may take a tole but they are taken to help that hope grow. With hope usually comes recovery, as i have happily witnessed with my gorgeous mother. I look up to anyone who has been strong enough to fight cancer and the loved ones that stood by their sides through it all. Remember to stay positive and keep on fighting, never forget the ones that have lost and always hold hope for those unfortunate people that are hit with the stick.

Cancer is a fatal disease of growth enlargement of malignant cells inside the body. Because it is a state, in which cells of the body start to breed its offsprings disorderly.

In ancient times, cancers felt as distended blood vessels due to the tumor or mass inside the body. The growth of these cells symbolize to the claws of a crab in its appearance.

The malignant cells nurture quickly and so spread gradually to other cells adjacent to those cells. Therefore, these cells enter by force to the other cells nearby and enter from one organ to other organs gradually. This process of spreading is known as metastasis spread of the disease.

Over the centuries the understanding of this fatal disease condition erstwhile steadily grown in the medical field. Occurrence of malignancy is ever increasing in on the whole parts of the world day by day. Millions of people die with cancer all over the world year by year. The percentage of death rate is also mounting.

Causes:

The primary reason for the occurrences of it are smoking, various chemical substances usage, air contamination, and the entry of pesticides used in agriculture inside the body etc.

Types:

In general, it affects all the body cells without difference, but mostly affect the breasts, lungs due to heavy smoking and other reasons, prostate gland, colon, bladder, and the womb as uterus caner.

Treatment methods:

1. Surgery.
2. Chemotherapy.
3. Radiotherapy.

How can we reduce the risk of cancer?

Avoiding smoking will reduce 50% of the risk of cancer. Regular exercises will reduce the risk of cancer generally. Regular intake of vegetables and fruits also minimize the risk of cancer.

Combating cancer is in a great deal an extensive difficulty, but before time recognition, healing procedures, rehabilitation therapy, and emotional issues encountered by a patient and the family can reduce the risks. For the last two or three decades significant actions have been made to fight against cancer worldwide. In short, the knowledge of spread of cancer is the first step towards fighting against cancer.

Cervical cancer is the cancer of the cervix. It is a disease caused by the abnormal growth and division of cells that forms in the lining of the cervix. It is the second common form of cancer that affects women today. It is very common in middle age women and older.

The statistics of cervical cancer in the United States, according to American Cancer Society (ACS), shows that about 11,150 women are diagnosing with this cancer and approximately 3,670 women die from this cancer every year.

To understand more about cervical cancer, it is important to note what a cervix is first. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus (womb) that connects the uterus to the vagina (birth canal) in a woman’s body.

Usually, cervical cancer exhibits no symptoms to detect the presence of cancer in your body. It is known as a slow growing form of cancer. When cancer develops in your body, the healthy cells in the cervix begin to change into abnormal cells, which then turn into pre-cancerous cells. If left untreated, these pre-cancerous cells will turn into cancer.

Risk factors of cervical cancer:

Although the cause of cervical cancer is not known there are certain risk factors that increase the risk of developing this cancer. Risk factors are the things that will affect the chances of developing a disease greater.

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a sexual transmitted disease is highly associated with invasive cervical cancer.

Sexual transmitted diseases occur due to sexual contacts with an infected person. Chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, genital herpes, HIV/AIDS are some of he examples of sexual transmitted diseases.

Other risk factors that increase your chances of developing cervical cancer are: a history of sexual transmitted diseases, having sexual intercourse with multiple partners, having sexual activities in very young age (without using contraceptives).

Smoking doubles your risk of having cancer of the cervix. Weakened immune system, regular usage of birth control pills, age, giving birth to many children, and irregular pap tests increases your risk of developing cervical cancer.

As the cause of cervical cancer is unknown, it can be detected with regular Pap tests or pap smears. It is very important for you to have regular Pap tests to identify the condition early to take appropriate treatment and prevent cervical cancer from developing.

Pap test to detect cervical cancer:

With Pap tests, you can detect the cancer in the early stages before it spreads to other parts of the body. Pap smear is a procedure where scraped cells from the cervix are examined under a microscope to check for the changes in the cells of your cervix that leads to cervical cancer.

The rate of cervical cancer in women has greatly decreased in recent years in the United States due to regular pap smears.

As cervical cancer is a malignant tumor, it is very important for you to have Pap tests done annually. Remember, it is not a good idea to wait for signs to consult a doctor as early detection is the key to being treated successfully. Visit Online Cancer Blog

Endometrial cancer begins in the cells of the inner lining (known as the endometrium) of the uterus. The uterus is in a similar shape as the papaya and the pear, and is located in the pelvic area. It is also known as the womb, and this is where the fetus develops.

Medical professionals do not know why endometrial cancer occurs, but a lot of evidence points to too much estrogen, and too much estrogen basically points to a bad diet.

Estrogen is a hormone produced by the ovaries, which is natural, but it is also produced by tumors in the ovaries, and fat cells. Excess estrogen causes the endometrium to grow, and this can result in endometrial cancer.

There are many risk factors of endometrial cancer, but it seems to mainly affect women who have gone through menopause and especially those aged 55 and older.

Other risks include obesity; obese women are three times more likely to develop endometrial cancer, and those overweight are two times more likely to have it. This is simply because the fat tissues are producing more estrogen.

A high fat diet is another is also a risk factor because it is the number one cause of obesity.

Diabetic women are also are risk, especially those who are overweight. But it can also effect diabetics who are not overweight.

Those who have had, or are receiving estrogen replacement therapy are also at risk. Estrogen without progesterone is imbalanced and can lead to the growth of the endometrium.

Those who have had breast cancer in the past are at risk, especially those who received Tamoxifen as treatment. Even though this drug is to stop the estrogen, it still causes the growth of the endometrium.

For some unknown reason women who have never been pregnant, or those with fewer children are also at a higher risk.

Having an irregular period, high blood pressure, or hypertension are also risk factors of endometrial cancer.

Endometrial cancer is treatable if detected at an early stage, and by knowing whether or not you are at risk will help you to be on the look-out so that you can detect it early enough.

The first sign of endometrial cancer is bleeding or spotting. This may not always be the result of cancer, but it is a good idea to get it checked out. Other symptoms may include weight loss, fatigue, pelvic pain, trouble urinating and pain during intercourse.

Changing your diet to a raw food diet at the earliest sign, will help to reduce the symptoms. Or better yet changing to a raw food diet before the symptoms occur, could protect you from developing this cancer altogether.
