The entire human body is made up of cells, each of which contains its own genetic material, or DNA-a long string of molecules that tells the cell what to do .In a healthy body, cells divide at a controlled rate so as to grow and reduce pair damaged tissues and replace dying cells.
This predetermined rate of cell division is what keeps our bodies healthy. If cells keep multiplying when new ones are not necessary, a mass of tissue called a growth, or tumor, is formed.
A tumor can be either benign or malignant. Benign tumors are not cancerous. They can occur anywhere in the body and generally do not pose a threat to health, do not metastasize (spread to other parts of body), and do not grow back if removed.
Malignant tumors are cancerous. They are usually serious and can be life-threatening. Malignant tumors grow uncontrollably, interfere with normal metabolic and organ functioning, and have the ability to metastasize and invade other tissues.
Possible contributors to the development and growth of cancer be divided into three categories-external, internal, and lifestyle.
? External factors include unhealthy workplace environments and exposure to air and water pollution, chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides.
? Internal factors include both genetics (heredity) and infections.
? Lifestyles factors are those we personally can most readily control. These are also the factors scientists believe account for the largest proportion of cancers. They include diet, smoking, drinking, and sun exposure.
For example, persons who do not smoke but are exposed to cigarette smoke have significantly higher rates of lung cancer than nonsmokers who are not. Regular alcohol consumption increases the risk of mouth and throat cancers.

How to identify cancer

Cancer is a disease that causes cells to divide uncontrollably and even attack surrounding cells. Cancer cells are capable of spreading from the site of origin to other parts of the body via the blood and lymph system.
Cancerous cells grow and multiply to form tumors. All tumors are not strong enough to spread to other parts of the body. The ones capable of spreading are called malignant cancers. Some cancers like leukemia do not form tumors. Cancer doctors treat malignant tumors as soon as they are detected, else they can prove to be lethal.
Though the various cancer names stem from the site of origin, cancer doctors classify cancers in a different manner. Carcinoma is a cancer of skin or tissues lining or covering the internal organs. Sarcoma is the cancer of bone, fat, cartilage, blood vessels or connective tissue, whereas leukemia is the cancer of blood forming tissue. Lymphoma is the cancer that begins in the immune system and cancer that begins in the brain and spinal cord tissues is central nervous system cancer.
Causes
Smoking, though not the only cause, is definitely related to cancer of lungs, mouth, throat, bladder and kidney. Too much sun exposure and exposure to hazardous chemicals classified as carcinogens can cause melanoma, the cancer of skin and other cancers.
Radiation is also a cause of cancer. In very rare cases, radiation for one type of cancer can cause another cancer later in life. Heredity is another factor that causes cancer due to inherited genes. In very rare cases, skin cancer develops in burn scars many years after the burn injury has healed.
Prevention
Giving up tobacco and alcohol can help prevent not only certain types of cancers but many other diseases also. It is never too late to give up tobacco in all forms to reduce the risk of cancer. Skin cancer can be avoided by keeping away from strong sunlight and using adequate SPF.
Having less of red meat and processed meat is also helpful as cancer doctors have found that red meat like beef and pork and processed meat like bacon are related to cancer risks. Plan a healthy diet that keeps you fit and healthy as well as boosts immunity.
Regular screenings are also important. Women can conduct self breast examination regularly as well as get a Pap Smear test, especially if they have a family history of breast cancer,cervical cancer or ovarian cancer.
Treatment
The three main treatments available for cancer are surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. All of these are successful in removing cancerous tissues as well as eliminating the chances or recurrence, provided the cancer is detected well in time. There are some side effects of radiation and chemotherapy which are temporary and much easier to deal with than the cancer itself.
Other treatments for cancer include hormone therapy, bone marrow transplant and immunotherapy. These are generally given along with surgery to ensure faster healing.

This condition has become one of the most common types of non-skin cancer that is affecting millions of people every year.
Protective measures against Breast Cancer Causes

Usually breast changes are very common. Throughout the life, starting from the girls beginning to develop breasts and starting menstruating, women experience various changes and pain in the breasts. Some changes are very normal like during menstrual cycle, during pregnancy and also with the aging. There occur other changes, breasts lumps and tenderness. It is not necessary that most of the changes and the breasts lumps are cancerous only.
Symptoms. There are few early symptoms. The first is usually a painless lump in the breast found accidentally or on routine examination. The size may vary but generally it is small and quite hard, and it may be attached to the skin. The nipples may be sore or there may be some discharge from them. Occasionally the veins in the skin over the tumor become quite prominent. The skin becomes tight and resembles an orange in texture.
One way to tell if your baby has a proper latch is to look and see how much of the areolar (the dark-skin area of your breast) is covered by your baby’s mouth. Ideally, it should be most of the areolar, leaving only a thin ring of darkened skin visible. Another way (although I didn’t find this particularly useful for me) is to check the shape of your nipple after a feed. It should still be relatively rounded after your baby comes off. A flattened nipple is potentially a sign of an incorrect latch.
Each year in the United States almost 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. While there is an abundance of information on Western biomedical treatments, treatments for the prevention of breast cancer are relatively unknown. While many women have a genetic predisposition to this disease, many others do not. In both cases there are steps they can take to prevent breast cancer from occurring. And while this article is addressed to women, breast cancer can and does occur in men although they number less than 2% of all recorded cases.
You will want to avoid prescription medications while breastfeeding because you will pass the side effects right along to your baby, through the breast milk. Herbal medicines are much better during this sensitive time. Marigold and Chamomile are great choices if you are looking to avoid fungal infections, inflammation and the spread of bacteria. They are also great at naturally helping to stop the pain you might be experiencing in your breasts. Vitamin E and Silica will help your skin to heal better and put a stop to the uncomfortable itching that often occurs with breastfeeding.
One team analyzed data from nearly 16 thousand women, who were taking medications like estrogen and progestin, and found that these women were more likely to develop breast cancer. Doctors now believe that hormone replacement therapy is far better for women who are suffering from severe menopause side effects and also suggest that at the same time they should take the lowest possible dosage for a short period of time.
Breast yeast infection is a frequent condition in women who are lactating. Since yeast thrives in a warm moist environment – a breast that is currently being used for feeding is a common place for the candida fungus to present itself. The scientific name given to a yeast fungal infection is candida albicans – another name is monilia. This article will review some causes, treatments and remedies for yeast infection of the breast.
Overly large breasts can cause chronic shoulder, neck and back pain, in addition to circulation and breathing difficulties. Bra straps dig deep into the shoulder tissue causing the skin to be irritated, red, and sore from the weight of the breasts. Also, women complain that they do not experience sensitivity or erotic feelings in their breasts.

After you have been cut on you will be sore and tender for a few days. In some cases a few weeks until your body heals and adjusts to what just happened. This is one of the main reason I encourage people to go a more natural route when it comes to breast enhancement. Either way, if your pain is severe go talk to your doctor.
The goal of reduction mammaplasty is to reduce, recontour and reshape the breasts. The breasts are made smaller. The nipple areola complex is repositioned upward, and if indicated, reduced in size. Excess skin and breast tissue is removed from the lower and outer portions of the breast.
Painful conditions of the breasts are common among women. Mastitis is an unbearably painful condition which causes inflammation and hardening of the breast. Sore, cracked nipples are usually a result of breastfeeding, either because of the baby dragging at the nipple or because correct care is not being taken in washing and drying the breasts before and after feeding.
The decision to breastfeed or bottle feed your baby is a very personal one and should be based on your comfort level as well as your lifestyle. Breastfeeding (or nursing) can be a wonderful experience for both mother and baby as it provides a special bonding experience, however, breastfeeding may not be possible or preferable for all women.
An infection in breast tissue, which is commonly found in nursing women, is called mastitis. Mastitis can also be found in women, who are not giving breastfeed to their newborns after birth. The infection causes pain, swelling, redness, increased temperature of the breast and sometimes fever. Women, who have low immunity, are also at a higher risk of getting the infection.
