Important Questions to Ask Before Going for Breast Reconstruction

When diagnosed with breast cancer, the initial concern for most women is preventing the cancer from spreading to other parts of their body. There are times when it is necessary to completely remove the breast in order to prevent surrounding tissues from becoming infected.

While this could possibly be a life-saving procedure, breast removal does introduce a completely new issue for women, which mostly involves the rebuilding of self-worth. For a lot of women, undergoing a mastectomy feels like a part of their womanhood is taken away. Fortunately, there have been significant advances in the field of breast reconstruction that allow breast cancer survivors to look no different than they did before succumbing to cancer.

Breast reconstruction has helped thousands upon thousands of women regain their self-esteem after undergoing mastectomy and surviving breast cancer. But going through the procedure is not always an easy choice. In fact, there are also a large number of women who willingly choose to not have the reconstruction done at all. One has to realize that even though breast reconstruction will give a woman the appearance of an actual breast, the natural feelings of breasts will not be there. Also, the entire process usually takes a series of operations to complete.

Breast Reconstruction: The Process

First, breast reconstruction doctors would have to recreate the mound of your breast using silicone gel or natural tissues from other parts of your body. Then the nipple is added and the breast is remolded to make sure it is balanced with your existing one. It is also to note that not all women are qualified for breast reconstruction surgery. For instance, severely overweight women would have to slim down first before being admitted into the operating room. Similarly, women with heart conditions or high blood pressure should take steps to improve their health first.

Just like with any other surgery, breast reconstruction comes with a number of risks such as the loss of blood, scarring, complications with anesthesia and the accumulation of bodily fluids. According to doctors, it is preferable to undergo breast reconstruction only when it has been made certain that the cancer cells have been destroyed.

There are many cases of second occurrences of cancer. Being certain ensures the safety of a patient undergoing treatments such as radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

If you are thinking about undergoing breast reconstruction, we suggest that you start by seeking a breast cancer support group before making your decision.

Breast Cancer Research Is Very Important! We Should All Wear Pink Ribbons!

The Best Way for people all over the world to get involved in helping to find a cure for this terrible thing called Breast Cancer, is for them to begin giving money on a regular basis to the cause of Breast Cancer Research.

Many people around the world have religious beliefs which cause them to donate money to a house of worship, and many people do this on a weekly basis, and without any hesitation whatsoever. Why not also consider giving a few Dollars, Euros, Pounds, Francs, Shekels, or Yen each week or each month, to breast cancer research?

People who are not particularly religious, and who might not be giving to a church every single week, might have a little more money available, which they can donate on a regular basis this monumentally important cause!

It is sad but breast cancer can possibly touch all of our lives! We all have mothers, grand mothers, sisters, daughters, grand daughters, nieces, aunts, and female cousins who can potentially be stricken with this sometimes life-threatening disease! This fact alone should make many people feel like donating money to the breast cancer research cause!

Here in the U.S. our Postal Service has these beautiful first-class postage stamps, for a few years now, and these beautiful breast cancer awareness stamps cost postal customers a little bit more money than an ordinary first-class stamp, but the extra money is supposed to go to the breast cancer cause, and even if only half of the money ends up making it to the desired charities, it is still worthwhile because as we have always been taught; “Every bit counts.”

There are many awesome Pink Ribbon products, from pins and bracelets, to checkbook covers and magnetic ribbons for the side of your car. There are even more expensive and better quality items that are pink and feature the pink ribbon logo, such as golf shirts and nice hats, scarves, and gloves, and we should all consider buying some of these as gifts, particularly for women. Anyone who has even a small affection for women, should be interested in stopping this terrible disease, and they should certainly buy a few of these Pink Ribbon Products!

On my fabulous website, I sell a Powerful Good Luck Indian Medicine Bag Amulet Seen Here and people really go nuts over them! They are the biggest seller that we have at www.FatherTimePublishing.com and I am always happy to admit that I am a supporter of Breast Cancer Research!

You can feel free to send this awesome ArticlesBase.com piece to anyone you know who might love it, and these pieces are available to be re-posted as long as you leave the links intact, otherwise you are stealing content!

So, let’s all join together and find a cure!

Many Blessings!
