Several women unfortunately face and will continue to face an ironic battle with the breast cancer during their lifetime. The figures currently available put the total number of diagnoses for breast cancer to around 44,000 per annum.
In spite of this worrying statistic report, most of the women are also becoming aware of the disease and are getting it detected at early stages and are fighting it. If we see figures, over past few years, the death rate due to breast cancer has come down. It has also been noticed that in some cases even after early detection, this fact was overlooked by the doctor. This reduced the chances of any recovery in these women as it was not possible at late stages of the disease.
The detection of breast cancer starts with getting to know about some lump in the breast area. The doctor would then examine the lump and would recommend it’s testing to diagnose whether it is cancerous or is normal and would heal with time. Mammogram or biopsy is done for the same.
Some of the physicians generally refer the patients to some specialist. Another important sign of cancer could be some unusual discharge from the breast nipple of women. All these involve further testing to see as to where the problem is. The carelessness on part of doctors occurs when these symptoms are there but he somehow fails to follow up and gather more information through tests diagnosis.
If the patient indeed is suffering from breast cancer then this delay on part of doctor could prove to be a killer. Wrong positive diagnosis of patient on the other hand could be counterproductive as though patient may not be having breast cancer, yet he will have to undergo expensive treatments and surgeries which were never required.
A case for medical negligence is made when the doctor either misdiagnosed the problem or delayed the diagnosis leading to the serious situation for the parent. So, in order to have a successful medical claim the patient needs to prove that they received the care which was below the accepted standards. A wrong diagnosis or long wait for diagnosis will satisfy this principle.

Do I need to seek professional help?
Ever since I was about five I have had a crippling preoccupation with death. I go through phases where I am afraid to die certain ways. When I was seven I was so afraid of death by ingesting chemicals I could not be in the same room as a bottle of windex. I am currently fearing heart disease and breast cancer. I watch everything I eat and am constantly checking to make sure I don’t have symptoms. These fears have taken over my life and lowered my self confidence significantly. Another aspect of my life that has had a negative impact on my self esteem is the giant port wine stain birth mark running up my entire left leg, starting at the bottom of my foot and reaching all the way up to my lower back. I constantly feel bad about myself and hate myself. I feel so horrible but then I look around and realize that I am so fortunate and that I have so much. I think about all the children in the world starving and struggling to survive and immediately loathe myself for feeling bad about my life. When I feel horrible for being so selfish I begin to hate myself again and when I begin to hate my elf I think of all the kids in other countries and so on. It’s a vicious cycle of self hate and I need to stop it. All these feelings have lead me into what I believe is depression. I have a lot of the symptoms, apparently. I have trouble sleeping, I constantly feel either hollow, like someone gauged out some of my soul, or heavy, like there’s a block of lead resting in the pit of my stomach. Sometimes every step feels like a great effort and I don’t really do anything with my life, I just kinda sit there and waste away; I feel as if my future is hopeless. The thing, however, that has scared me into asking this question is that lately I have been viewing death as a release. No, I’m not suicidal, I’m too afraid of death to try anything, but I used to tell myself that this wouldn’t matter ten years from now when bad things happened, now I tell myself this won’t matter when your dead. This might have somthing to do with my withdrawl from the Catholic religion and the fact that I don’t believe in heaven and hell, but I’m not sure. I am only 14 and I know I’m not supposed to be thinking about things like this, none of my friends think like this, I am the only one. I feel as if I am addicted to self destruction, which I find quite romantic for some strange reason, and self hatred. But basically, I apoligize for that painfully long summary, the question is: Do I need help? Am I actually depressed? or am I just as bad and selfish of a person as I think I am?
My parents know about my fear of death, but they don’t really believe me. They think it is just me being over dramatic. But it’s kinda akward talking to them. I mean what am I supposed to say to them?

Breast Cancer Treatment in India at Jaslok Health Group under Professional Physicians
Breast Cancer Treatment in India is taken under Jaslok Health Group under experienced and certified medical team of physicians. The term “breast cancer” refers to a malignant tumour that has developed from cells in the breast. Usually breast cancer either begins in the cells of the lobules, which are the milk-producing glands, or the ducts, the passages that drain milk from the lobules to the nipple. Less commonly, breast cancer can begin in the stomal tissues, which include the fatty and fibrous connective tissues of the breast. Breast Cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women and the second most common cause of cancer death in women. While the majority of new breast cancers are diagnosed as a result of an abnormality seen on a mammogram, a lump or change in consistency of the breast tissue can also be a warning sign of the disease. Jaslok Health Group introduces recreational packages with the help of Medical Tourism to provide better benefits and recovery from the disease. Physicians providing Breast Cancer Treatment in India at Jaslok Health Group are professionally trained and certified from renowned institutions across the globe.
Breast Cancer is an uncontrolled growth of breast cells. To better understand breast cancer, it helps to understand how any cancer can develop. Cancer occurs as a result of mutations, or abnormal changes, in the genes responsible for regulating the growth of cells and keeping them healthy. The genes are in each cell’s nucleus, which acts as the “control room” of each cell. Normally, the cells in our bodies replace themselves through an orderly process of cell growth: healthy new cells take over as old ones die out. But over time, mutations can “turn on” certain genes and “turn off” others in a cell. That changed cell gains the ability to keep dividing without control or order, producing more cells just like it and forming a tumour.
Some Breast Cancer require the hormones estrogen and progesterone to grow, and have receptors for those hormones. Those cancers are treated with drugs that interfere with those hormones, usually tamoxifen, and with drugs that shut off the production of estrogen in the ovaries or elsewhere; this may damage the ovaries and end fertility. Low-risk, hormone-sensitive breast cancers may be treated with hormone therapy and radiation alone. Breast cancers without hormone receptors, or which have spread to the lymph nodes in the armpits, or which express certain genetic characteristics, are higher-risk, and are treated more aggressively.
Abnormal development of cells leads to the growth of tumour, when tumour is malignant in nature they are termed as cancer. Breast Cancer is the most common type of cancer diagnosed in women today. Around the world breast cancer statistics shows that after lung cancer breast cancer is the second most death-causing factor in people who develops cancer. The risk factor of developing breast cancer increases with the age, it does not only relate to women, figures show that out of every 100 women there is one male who is diagnosed of breast cancer. Breast cancer does not mean a specific category of disease rather it is the different types of cancer generally found in breast is collectively termed as breast cancer. Though the most common understanding suggests that, abnormal growth of cells in the breast causes breast cancer.
The exact cause of Breast Cancer is unknown and there are no fixed causes for breast cancer. Myths in identifying the causes of breast cancer are more prevalent than the real cause. Some of the causes that have been collectively associated with breast cancer are:
The chances of breast cancer depends on age, as the person gets older the chances of it are more Family history of close relative like mother, sister and daughter who has been diagnosed with breast cancer increases the risk factor Early start onset of menses and early menopause are also associated with breast cancer Exposure to radioactive rays are carcinogenic and increases the chances of breast cancer Using hormone replacement therapy might also cause it Exposure to harmful chemicals (working in a chemical factory that uses harmful chemicals like Organo chlorine) Late childbearing
The first symptom, or subjective sign, of breast cancer is typically a lump that feels different from the rest of the breast tissue. More than 80% of Breast Cancer cases are discovered when the woman feels a lump. According to the American Cancer Society, the first medical sign, or objective indication of breast cancer as detected by a physician, is discovered by mammogram. Lumps found in lymph nodes located in the armpits can also indicate breast cancer. When breast cancer cells invade the dermal lymphatics small lymph vessels in the skin of the breast’s presentation can resemble skin inflammation and thus is known as inflammatory breast cancer . Symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer include pain, swelling, warmth and redness throughout the breast.
Another reported symptom complex of Breast Cancer is Paget’s disease of the breast. This syndrome presents as eczematoid skin changes such as redness and mild flaking of the nipple skin. Symptoms may include tingling, itching, increased sensitivity, burning, and pain. Occasionally, breast cancer presents as metastatic disease, that is, cancer that has spread beyond the original organ. Metastatic breast cancer will cause symptoms that depend on the location of metastasis. Common sites of metastasis include bone, liver, lung and brain. Unexplained weight loss can occasionally herald an occult breast cancer, as can symptoms of fevers or chills. Bone or joint pains can sometimes be manifestations of metastatic breast cancer, as can jaundice or neurological symptoms.
The most important factor behind any disease is the way you cope with it and find a safe treatment. Breast Cancer is a serious disease but with time and proper breast cancer treatment you will recovery from the initial trauma of the disease. Eating healthy and maintaining a balanced lifestyle along with family and friends cope to a great extent in coping with the disease. Question for physician or health care professional regarding breast cancer?
My sister was diagnosed last week with stage 4 breast cancer. She learned about the cancer because her stomach filled with fluid and a biopsy of the fluid revealed cancer cells in the fluid. A mamogram and breast biopsy also revealed breast cancer. We are just sick about this. She starts chemotherapy today. My question is, can the cancer cells in the fluid in the stomach cause the cancer to spread to other organs. Does this mean that she definately has it in her lymph nodes? Is the fluid most likely caused by the tumor draining into her stomach. I am just confused because from what I have read stage 4 means the cancer has spread to other organs. Finally, is there hope for this type of cancer. I can use all the information I can find. That you for your help and time.
