SHERYL CROW & FANS FLIP THEIR LIDS TO HELP PREVENT BREAST CANCER
Friday, October 10, 2008: Los Angeles CA. Multi-platinum multi-Grammy Award® winning singer songwriter Sheryl Crow celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Yoplait® Save Lids to Save Lives® breast cancer awareness and fundraising initiative with a special performance at the The Wiltern in Los Angeles. As October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, concert goers were asked to present ten specially designated pink Yoplait® lids at the door with their ticket. Yoplait® has pledged to donate $1.00 per pink lid collected at the concert to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, equaling $10 per donation guest. Crow, a breast cancer survivor, is currently on the road to support her latest album Detours and on October 11 will release a new album entitled Home for Christmas. Consumers who wish to participate in Save Lids to Save Lives® the program have the opportunity to save pink lids and mail them to Yoplait until December 31, 2008. Yoplait® will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and up to $1.5 million with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500000. Fans can also join Sheryls lid collection efforts on www.YourLidMatters.com through a new online program that allows consumers to create teams with their family and friends to support the fight against breast cancer. Breast cancer is a type of cancer originating from breast tissue, most commonly from the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules which supply the ducts with milk. Breast cancer is a common type of non-skin cancer in women and the 5th most common cause of death from cancer. It is about 100 times more common in women than in men. Severe breast cancer can lead to the death. Breast cancer is usually treated with surgery and then probably with chemotherapy or radiation, or both. Hormone positive cancer is cured with long term hormone blocking therapy. Breast cancer treatments are offered with increasing aggressiveness according to the prognosis & risk of recurrence. Prevention is the key for breast cancer treatment. Breast feeding to your baby, less alcohol, a good life style can assist you in escaping from breast cancer.
Prostate cancer is a form of cancer that develops in the prostate, a gland in the male reproductive system. Most of prostate cancers are slow developing. However, there are cases of aggressive prostate cancers. The cancer cells may spread from the prostate to other parts of the body, mainly the bones & lymph nodes. Prostate cancer may cause difficulty in urinating, pain, problems during sexual intercourse, or erectile dysfunction. There are many options available for prostate cancer treatment. Prostate cancer treatments include surgery, radiation therapy, proton therapy, hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, cryosurgery, and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU)
Skin cancer, known as skin neoplasia, is the most common form of human cancer. It is expected that over 1 million new cases take place yearly. The yearly rates of all forms of skin cancer are rising every year, representing a growing public concern. The warning of skin cancer is a change in the appearance of the skin, like a new growth or a sore that will not heal. Skin cancer can catch to any person of any age. Prevention is the key for escaping from skin cancer. You must use preventive techniques. Skin cancer treatment may include curettage and desiccation, surgical excision, cryosurgery, Mohs micrographic surgery, radiation therapy, medical therapy using creams etc.
Heart disease is the medical term used for a variety of different diseases affecting the human heart. There are several causes of heart diseases. The most common cause of heart disease is the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart itself, narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries. Smoking, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, family history, peripheral artery disease, insufficient exercises, stress, obesity are the causes of heart diseases. The heart diseases are usually treated in a multi-step approach depending upon a patient’s symptoms of heart diseases. The patient & healthcare service provider need to work together to return the patient to a normal lifestyle. Medication and advices are applied to treat the heart patients. Surgery & heart transplant are also done in severe condition for heart diseases treatment.
